Finding USPTO Inventor Resources – Quick Links
The USPTO offers inventors a lot of resources online, but for many it is often challenging to find what your looking for. To help you out, we’ve compiled some of the most helpful links useful for any new and novice inventor starting out.
The Inventors Association of Arizona
At The Office Of Congressman David Schweikert
On October 18, members of the IAA visited the office of Congressman David Schweikert to discuss concerns with patent protection in the United States. Congressman Schweikert was very interested in this discussion as he is an inventor also! The IAA and US Inventors are in the process of completing the follow up on the meeting.
UPDATE ON THE INVENTOR MOMENTUM
TO EFFECT CHANGES IN PATENT PROTECTION
As many of you know, the IAA has been working in coordination with the US Inventors to strengthen our patent protection and restore patent rights to independent inventors across the country. As a part of an effort to reduce frivolous lawsuits created by “patent trolls”, the America Invents Act of 2011 created an administrative tribunal called the Patent Trial & Appeals Board (PTAB). Unfortunately, the PTAB is now out of control and causing some patents to be unfairly invalidated.
GOOD NEWS!
OUR UNITED VOICE IS MOVING THE NEEDLE!
The united voices of American inventors are being heard! US Inventors has been relentlessly walking Capitol Hill for several years, talking to Congress about these concerns. They have asked for help from inventors across the country to help strengthen a collective voice. The new Director of the USPTO understands the concerns and with the strength of the voice from inventors, he has been able to make move the needle in our direction!
Here’s an update from Josh Malone, the inventor of Bunch O’ Balloons and US Inventors Board Member:
In less than 6 months, Director Iancu has implemented most of our 12 requested PTAB reforms!
  • eliminated BRI through rulemaking
  • adopted district court claim construction through rulemaking
  • updated the Trial Practice Guide to reduce institution rates
  • updated the Trial Practice Guide to elevate deference to prior proceedings
  • updated the SOP’s to increase transparency and require consistentcy
  • re-assigned the anti-patent Chief Administrative Patent Judge
  • re-assigned the anti-patent Solicitor
Your comments on the rule changes were posted HERE. It is beautiful – over 300 comments. It worked! For those of you who responded to Josh’s request a few months ago, scroll through the link and find your name among other action-oriented inventors! THANK YOU!
SEE YOU AT THE OPEN DOOR MEETING ON NOVEMBER 7TH!
