The Senior Member Program

Last week, NAI Member Representatives from each of our Member Institutions received the details of our newest membership category: the NAI Senior Member Program. This membership category, which falls between chapter member and NAI Fellow, acknowledges active researchers with success in patents, licensing and commercialization who have produced technologies that have brought, or aspire to bring, real impact on the welfare of society.

Senior Members foster a spirit of innovation within their communities by enhancing an inventive atmosphere at their institutions, and they educate and mentor the next generation of inventors. We are thrilled to announce this program at last and to welcome countless new inventors to our community.

Requirements

• At minimum, candidates must demonstrate a high degree of innovation by holding one issued U.S. patent that has been licensed or commercialized
  • As an alternative, candidates may hold five or more issued U.S. patents.
• Candidates must be in professional practice or research in their current field for at least seven years. Examples of professional practice include active research in fields such as engineering, chemistry, biology, architecture and medicine, instructing classes in these fields, and/or working on clinical trials.
• Candidates must be affiliated with a NAI Member Institution.
• Candidates may self-nominate.
• Posthumous nominations will not be accepted.
