To the NAI community,
Earlier this year, at our annual meeting in Washington D.C., I was delighted to announce, on behalf of the board of directors, a new comprehensive mentorship platform based on the requests from our membership. The ability to enhance the work of each institution through educational, research and technology transfer offices has been an important issue to our entire membership since our founding.

The Global Academic Inventor Network (GAIN) will demonstrate the power of the academic inventor community. Our aim is to connect experienced inventors with those seeking guidance through the patenting and commercialization process. In support of your technology transfer operations, it is our hope that this network helps ease the process for emerging inventors as they take an initial idea through the entire discovery process, and then licensing and commercializing that technology for the benefit of society.

As a special benefit, our Sustaining Member Institutions, NAI Chapters and NAI Fellows will receive exclusive priority access to join GAIN first. If you have been considering becoming a sustaining member or launching a chapter, now is the time.

This new technology will allow us to cultivate the next generation of innovators and deepen connections among global institutions and across disciplines. Following the initial launch stage, we will open the platform to our entire NAI community.

We look forward to the opportunity that GAIN provides, and we are eager to begin this journey with you. If you have any questions about this exciting opportunity, please contact [email protected].

All the best,
Paul Sanberg, FNAI
President, National Academy of Inventors

“The Global Academic Inventors Network is a unique platform that will allow us to bridge the perceived gaps between NAI membership levels and foster a community spirit of innovation and collaboration. By connecting early-career innovators with world-renowned and seasoned inventors, the NAI furthers its mission to educate and mentor students and junior professionals.”
