The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued patent number 10 million.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued patent number 10,000,000 today to Joseph Marron of Raytheon Company for “Coherent Ladar Using Intra-Pixel Quadrature Detection.” The technology has a wide variety of applications, including autonomous vehicles, medical imaging devices, military defense systems and space and undersea exploration. You can view the patent online here.
The issuance of patent 10 million is a prime opportunity for the USPTO to celebrate the history of innovation in America, showcase the critical role inventors have played in the growth and development of our economy and society, and educate and inspire future generations of inventors.

To commemorate the issuance of patent 10 million, the USPTO unveiled a new patent cover design on March 11, 2018. The new design makes its debut with patent 10 million, and it celebrates both how far we have come and the new frontiers we have yet to explore.

The National Academy of Inventors congratulates the USPTO on this monumental achievement. The USPTO is an invaluable partner that helps the NAI further its goals of enhancing the visibility of academic technology and innovation, encouraging the disclosure of intellectual property and translating inventions to benefit society.
